Bissap, the thirst-quenching red flower

Hibiscus flowers, mint, sometimes ginger: bissap, the ruby drink of West Africa. Ours is not available every day!

Bissap is a drink made with dried hibiscus flowers. Very popular in West Africa, especially in Senegal, it has a beautiful ruby colour and a tangy, fruity taste.

How it is made

The flowers are steeped in water, then strained, sweetened and flavoured according to the recipe: mint, ginger, orange blossom, vanilla… It is served well chilled and is wonderfully refreshing.

A drink for everyone

Alcohol-free, bissap is loved by adults and children alike. It is also a lovely alternative to sodas, with a taste of travel.

At our place

Our bissap is homemade and much in demand… so it is not always available! Ask for it when you arrive: if there is some left, don’t miss it.
